Following our sell-out Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) Conference in November 2024, we invited attendees to share their thoughts on both the conference itself, and on TIP in general in their services and beyond. We are delighted to report a Net Promoter Score of 54 or Excellent - 89% of respondents would recommend this conference to a colleague in a similar role. 95% of respondents told us they found the conference inspiring and that the content was relevant to TIP.
“It was great to see people actively recognising their own TI journeys and to consider how to use the principles for better.”
In relation to TIP in their services, respondents shared that while 57% of their services had completed TIP training, only 7% of respondents had a TIP Implementation Plan. Respondents felt that training, continued support of colleagues and using and seeing TIP in practice were most important in terms of helping them to stay connected to TIP in their work.
“Closely working with people on the ground and linking this back to TIP training makes it real”
In terms of areas of need, healthcare, government departments and schools were the most commonly identified services that respondents felt would benefit from TIP. Respondents felt that in order to progress TIP on a national level, they would like to see government departments integrating TIP into their strategies, as well TIP being included in curricula for health- and social care-oriented training.
Respondents also felt there is a need for educational programmes on trauma that are accessible by service users. Staff turnover and funders’ lack of understanding of trauma informed approaches were identified as the most common barriers services face in implementing TIP.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to complete our survey and contribute to this report, which is now available here.
We will use the information in the report to encourage organisations that have not yet started their journey to incorporate more TIP processes.
We look forward to seeing you at our next TIP Conference in 2026!
