Dr. Nicki Annunziata is a distinguished nurse, educator, and researcher, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. With a Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin, her research has centered on vicarious trauma among nurses in addiction services, and the critical role of leadership in mitigating its effects. Her work integrates robust clinical practice with academic rigor, making significant contributions to the fields of nursing, addiction, and healthcare leadership.Nicki’s diverse professional journey includes teaching undergraduate nursing students at Trinity College Dublin and postgraduate students at Dublin Business School, where she lectures on research methods and harm reduction.
In her current role as Deputy Lead Nurse at Smarmore Castle Private Clinic, Nicki provides compassionate leadership while caring for individuals with complex trauma histories.In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Nicki serves as the President of the International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA) Ireland Chapter, where she has helped foster collaboration among addiction nursing professionals across Europe. Her contributions to the field are reflected in her numerous publications and conference presentations, where she shares insights into addiction nursing, vicarious trauma-informed care, and leadership.
