Dil is a dedicated advocate for social justice and positive societal change. As a psychosexual psychotherapist, an international keynote speaker, including TEDx, a social entrepreneur, esteemed broadcaster, and respected journalist, Dil consistently sheds light on critical social issues.
Dil’s personal journey includes coming out to religious parents, resulting in homelessness at age 16 and facing discrimination and dismissal from her radio job in Sri Lanka due to her sexuality. Arriving in Dublin during Pride in June 2000, she found acceptance and love, co-founding Insight Matters with her wife Anne Marie Toole—a groundbreaking Gender Sexuality/Sex Relationship Diversity and LGBTQAI+ -affirming therapy centre supporting over 600 weekly clients nationally and internationally with a team of 100 dedicated practitioners.
In 2024, after taking a break from working in radio to train as a psychotherapist Dil returned to the air waves by hosting “Come In,” a weekly show on FM104. The series delves into new conversations, exploring less talked about topics in today’s LGBTQ+ community. Dil’s aim is to help society embrace diversity so that everyone can live fuller and more fabulous lives.
