As an organisational and personal change consultant, Derek specialises in training, facilitation, therapeutic coaching, and healing trauma. His purpose is to support organisations and individuals to thrive by focusing on culture, leadership, and wellbeing. He has a B.Sc. in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an LL.M in Gender, Sexuality, and Human Rights, along with qualifications in youth work and adult education. Additionally, he has post-graduate training in leadership, coaching, somatic experiencing, and organisational development. Derek has worked, nationally and internationally, with NGO’s, statutory organisations, UN agencies and private companies to innovate ways to help people and organisations to thrive.
Derek's approach integrates these diverse disciplines to create holistic solutions that foster growth and resilience in both personal and professional contexts. Whether he is designing a workshop, facilitating a leadership retreat, or providing one-on-one coaching, his goal is to cultivate environments where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. When not writing bios or working with organizations, you can find him wandering the hills of Donegal—cycling, running, or hiking—or dipping in the Atlantic Ocean.
